Zone enders game review

From an auditory standpoint, ZOE has its good and bad points. The raucous techno changes on the fly according to the action taking place onscreen, and the explosions come from all directions if you're playing with a surround-sound system. As is the case with many games developed first for the Japanese market, the script is wordy and far too sappy for the older audience that ZOE is attempting to attract. The dry, emotionless voice acting only makes it worse. For the first couple of hours, ZOE is a class-A game.

But amazement then gives way to apathy, due to the lethargic gameplay. Redundant enemies, objectives, and landscapes eventually wear on you to the point that the measly five to seven hours it takes to complete the game seems too long. The combat system is the focus, and the remainder of the game is left to twist in its own monotony. Zone of the Enders while somewhat flawed, was a good time. Rating: 8. ZOE is a short but worthwhile experience offering fast gameplay and some great boss fights.

Rating: 9. It's a first generation PS2 game that delivers. Shortcomings are more in the way of somewhat repetitive areas. Feels a bit incomplete, but still a decent Mech Game.

Half of what I was expecting. I first heard of the second game of the series, but before playing I got the first one.
